Achieving Dreams

Jordan of Worthing returned from his African adventure this month having spent six weeks working in the out reach programs of Ghana.

On hearing of Jordan’s trip back in December I asked him how he was planning on raising funds. Jordan replied that he would like to run Worthing to Brighton Pier, a distance of 11 and a half miles.
I was so impressed with Jordan’s desire to push the boundaries at only 21, that I signed him up to Fun-Fit and sponsored both his training and his trip.

Jordan carefully followed the training plan I wrote for him and eight weeks after meeting and on the sunniest Saturday since the storms we both set off from Worthing Pier.

The run followed the coast along Worthing, through Shoreham high street and finally looping back onto the coastal path for the final push to the pier. Much of the route was covered in shingle through Hove after the storms of the previous week, however Jordan was running really well and the sight of Brighton pier spurred him on.

One hour and thirty four minutes after leaving Worthing pier Jordan had done it, raising several hundred pounds in the process.

Jordan achieved both of his goal of running pier to pier and raising enough money to go to Africa. It has been a pleasure to train and help support these ambitions and at 21 he is a true inspiration that we can all learn from.

On returning from his trip Jordan informs me that he intends to return early next year to teach English in the schools. This is a trip that has not only changed his life but will now shape much of his future as well.

We all wish Jordan every success for the future.
